On 9 September the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, announced analog signals across Southern and Central New South Wales, ACT and the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area will be switched off on 5 June 2012.
Although the majority of towns in Southern and Central New South Wales, ACT and the MIA will be switching off their analog TV signals on 5 June some towns across the region will be making the switchover even earlier.
The Head of the Digital Switchover Taskforce, Nerida O’Loughlin has welcomed the support of rugby league legend David Peachey, who attended the Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout in Bathurst on Saturday 1 October to promote the switch to digital TV in Southern and Central New South Wales, the ACT and MIA.
On 1 September the Digital Switchover Taskforce completed the 50,000th Household Assistance Scheme (HAS) installation at the home of Sidney and Yvonne Sanderson in Rockhampton. The milestone event was attended by the local MP and Member for Capricornia, Kirsten Livermore, and the head of the Digital Switchover Taskforce, Nerida O’Loughlin.
Eight out of ten households in regional Queensland have converted to digital TV according to the latest Digital Tracker Survey results released on 1 September.
